Pharmaceutical Batch Fluid Bed Processors
Our vertical fluid bed dryers are engineered for uniform batch drying of pharmaceutical powders and granules, helping achieve the required moisture level without compromising product quality.
They are well suited for wet granulation lines and solid dosage production, providing reliable drying and consistent batch-to-batch performance.

GFG Series High Efficiency Boiling Dryer Fluid Bed Drying MachineSend An InquiryUnlike horizontal or continuous fluid bed systems that are mainly used for continuous drying and cooling, our vertical fluid bed processors are designed for pharmaceutical batch production.
Each production batch is processed separately, allowing airflow, temperature, processing time, spray parameters, and process endpoints to be controlled according to the formulation. This batch-based approach supports more uniform processing, improved process repeatability, and consistent batch-to-batch performance.
Fluid Bed Dryer Uses
Different equipment models and process configurations are designed for different pharmaceutical applications, including:
- Drying wet granules after wet granulation
- Drying suitable pharmaceutical powders and granules
- One-step fluid bed granulation and drying
- Particle or pellet coating
- Laboratory formulation development and process testing
Not every fluid bed model performs all of these processes. The appropriate equipment should be selected according to the required process, material characteristics, batch size, and desired final product.

Why Pharmaceutical Buyers Evaluate More Than Drying Capacity
Pharmaceutical buyers normally consider whether the equipment can support product quality, process repeatability, cleaning requirements, batch records, and integration with existing production systems.
For this reason, a pharmaceutical fluid bed processor should be evaluated as a process solution rather than only as a machine for reducing product moisture.
Advantages of Pharmaceutical Fluid Bed Processors
01. Controlled Batch Processing
Process parameters can be set and monitored for each production batch.
02. Fast and Uniform Moisture Reduction
Fluidization promotes efficient contact between heated air and product particles.
03. Flexible Process Configurations
Models are available for drying, one-step granulation, and multifunctional processing.
04. Consistent Processing Conditions
Controlled airflow, temperature, spray rate, and time help reduce batch variation.
05. Suitable for Pharmaceutical Production
The vertical batch design supports cleaning, product changeover, and batch records.
06.GMP-Oriented Configuration Options
Materials, filtration, cleaning, control, and documentation can be configured according to project requirements.
Choose by Process Requirement
We provide different fluid bed configurations for pharmaceutical research and production.

Lab Fluid Bed Dryer
For formulation development, process testing, and small-batch production.

One-Step Fluid Bed Granulator
For powder mixing, binder spraying, granule formation, and drying in one processing chamber.

Batch Fluid Bed Dryer
For drying wet granules after high-shear mixing or wet granulation.

3 in1 Fluid Bed Processor
Integrated Granulation Line
For drying, granulation, and coating, depending on the selected process and spray configuration.

How Does the Fluid Bed Process Work?
Filtered and heated process air enters from the bottom of the equipment and passes upward through an air distribution plate.
When the airflow reaches the required velocity, powders or granules are lifted and continuously circulated inside the processing chamber. This creates a fluidized state and promotes close contact between the product particles and process air.
Depending on the equipment configuration:
- Heated air removes moisture during drying.
- Binder solution is sprayed onto fluidized powder during granulation.
- Coating solution or suspension is sprayed onto particles or pellets during coating.
Because the process is performed in batches, operators can control and record parameters such as airflow, temperature, spray rate, processing time, and process endpoint.
Important Material Considerations
Material properties directly affect fluidization and processing performance. Equipment selection should therefore be based on the actual material and required process.
Key factors include:
- Particle size and bulk density
- Initial and target moisture content
- Flowability and agglomeration tendency
- Heat sensitivity and dust characteristics
- Binder, coating liquid, or solvent requirements
A standard fluid bed configuration may not be suitable for extremely fine or cohesive powders, highly sticky materials, fragile particles, or products with a low softening or melting temperature. Solvent-based, highly potent, or combustible materials may require specialized safety and containment measures.
Material testing or a customized configuration may be required for these applications.
Technical Configuration Options
Depending on the model, material, and process requirements, available configurations may include:
Not all options are available for every model. The final configuration should be confirmed according to the required process, material characteristics, and application conditions.
